Labor Day Sanitation

There will be NO refuse, recycling or yard waste collection on Monday, September 2, 2024 in observance of Labor Day. All routes will be picked up one day late with Friday’s route to be collected on Saturday. The Transfer Station on Watson Boulevard will be CLOSED on September 2, 2024. The Transfer Station will be OPEN on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Residents are advised that as of September 2, 2024, they must use the newly issued 96- or 64-gallon containers. Only refuse or recycling contained in the new Town issued containers will be collected. Refuse or recycling left loose next to the containers WILL NOT be collected. This includes bags or cardboard. Also, paint, oil or any other liquid should not be placed in your refuse or recycling containers.

Plastic bags cannot be included in your recycling container. This includes the special recycling bags that are currently being sold. The bags get stuck in the sorting equipment at the recycling drop off center causing the entire truck load to be rejected as contaminated. We have been advised by the recycling drop off center not to accept plastic bags of any type from now on.

Yard waste collection has resumed. Grass, leaves and shrubbery clippings must be contained in brown yard waste bags or loosely in cans. Branches no larger than one inch in diameter and 4 feet in length will be collected if tied in bundles.
