There will be NO refuse or recycling collection on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 and Wednesday, January 1, 2025 in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day.
All routes will be one day late with Friday’s route to be collected on Saturday.
The Transfer Station on Watson Boulevard will be CLOSED on December 25, 2024 and January 1, 2025.
IMPORTANT SANITATION REMINDERS:
The collection of yard waste will be suspended for the season on December 20, 2024. That will be the last day of collection.
Collection will resume again in April. During the winter months residents may bring yard waste to the Transfer Station on Watson Boulevard. Residents are reminded that only grass, leaves in paper bags or cans, and branches no longer than 4’ and 1” in diameter tied in bundles or placed in the bags or cans will be collected with yard waste. Plastic bags, plastic planters, dirt and rocks will not be collected.
Residents are advised that as of September 2, 2024, they must use the newly issued 96- or 64-gallon containers. Only refuse or recycling contained in the new Town issued containers will be collected. Refuse or recycling left loose next to the containers WILL NOT be collected. This includes bags or cardboard. Also, paint, oil or any other liquid should not be placed in your refuse or recycling containers.
Plastic bags can not be included in your recycling container. This includes the special recycling bags that are currently being sold. The bags get stuck in the sorting equipment at the recycling drop off center causing the entire truck load to be rejected as contaminated. We have been advised by the recycling drop off center not to accept plastic bags of any type from now on.
